Every year, the Student Union Malmö presents the Union Award to students who have done something extra for their fellow students outside their studies at Malmö University. This can be anything from improving their education, creating a more inclusive study environment or contributing to a stronger student life.
To recognise their efforts, we are awarding a total of SEK 10,000, divided into two individual scholarships of SEK 2,500 each and a group scholarship of SEK 5,000. The winners will also receive a diploma with a personalised motivation and will be celebrated during a ceremony in May.
Who can be nominated?
All students at Malmö University can nominate someone for the Union Award. The requirement is that the nominee must be a member of the Student Union Malmö. It can be an individual student or a group that together has contributed to improving student life.
How to nominate
From April 1st you can start nominate. Send the first and last name, e-mail address to inforum@malmostudenter.se of the person you want to nominate and you as the nominator, as well as the education and faculty affiliation of both sides. Write a short description of 200-400 words describing why the person is being nominated and why they deserve to win the Union Prize. Don’t forget to check that the nominee is a member of the Student Union and wants to be nominated. An acceptance is required to win!
The deadline for nominations is Friday 25 April at 17:00.
What is the jury looking at?
- Has the student’s involvement led to short-term or long-term improvements for a student group at Malmö University? Particularly meritorious is if the involvement has contributed to short-term or long-term improvements for the entire student population.
- Have the student(s) been involved in education policy either within Malmö University or at national level? Examples of forms of involvement in education policy are sitting as a student representative on the education committee at their faculty, within their programme council or within a committee at national level, for example through SFS.
- Have the student(s) been involved in study social activities within or outside Malmö University and the Student Union Malmö? Examples of student social engagement are volunteer work within the Student Union Malmö’s student social activities, involvement during the inspark, extraordinary work within the Student Union Malmö’s associations or mentorship within Näktergalen.
- Have the student(s) been involved outside the university and student union world? Meritorious for the union prize is involvement that has had a positive impact on students in Malmö and Malmö Student City.
Award ceremony
On 28 May, we will present the winners at a ceremony to recognise their achievements and thank all those who have contributed to student life.
