As Malmö’s need for higher education increases, there must also be more housing for students. One of the basic prerequisites for success in one’s studies is to have a secure home. In today’s Malmö, there is a general shortage of housing, which puts students in a vulnerable position.

The housing issue affects, among other things, choice of study, dropping out and mental health among students. For the diversity within the university, the housing situation is an extremely big challenge. Particularly vulnerable are those students who are low on capital, as well as international students. Today, there are also some students who are parents and need a different type of accommodation. It is therefore necessary to have a varied range of apartments that are adapted for a heterogeneous student population so that all students’ driving forces and knowledge contribute to sustainable social development.
