The student Union activities  is now officially part of CIM (Certificate of international Merit)

Do you want to make your CV stand out with a certificate of international merit? Ready to challenge yourself? Sometimes, it’s easier than you think to connect with other cultures. It can be as simple as reaching out to the Student Union, where you can meet both international students and locals, share experiences, and learn from one another as individuals and as a group. Below, you’ll find activities that are eligible for CIM.

When joining, let us know that you intend to apply for CIM and at the end of the activity, request a certificate from us that attest your participation in an eligible Unit 1 activity. You will then present this to the International Office to sum it up to the activities from Units  2 and 3.

What is CIM?

A Certificate that attests International Merits which is earned when you participate in activities with elements of global engagements.

How can you obtain it?

You need to engage in three activities with a global perspective. In which you are asked to reflect upon your  personal journey  and what you learned from it, in regards to global engagements. When you have completed all three activities you sum it all with a final reflection.

There are 3 units from which  you choose activities from each unit.The student engagement activity belongs to Unit 3, offering various activities eligible for CIM.

Activities valid for CIM

Rules:

  • For all activities, one must first get the student union membership.
  • (*) This activities requires for the applicant to be active/engaged in the chosen activity for at least one semester.
ESN
ESN
Students can become active in ESN by volunteering for events or taking on a position in the board. If they choose to volunteer we would like the student to organize and realize a minimum of three events. The events can be similar to ones we already did in prior semesters and help will be provided by our events manager and the rest of the board.(*)

UNIC
UNIC
UNIC is an alliance of ten universities in post-industrial cities. It is an EU initiative to create new collaboration among higher education institutions and exchange opportunities for staff and students, for research, education and to deepen its collaboration with the City of Malmö.

As the elected malmö university board member, the student will act in an ambassadorial role within the student board, advocating for the students of the university they represent, while also acting at their home university as a UNIC representative.(*)

SASUF
SASUF
SASUF is a three-year collaboration project between 13 Swedish and 23 South African universities. The overall aim is to strengthen ties between South Africa and Sweden in research, education and innovation, with the UN’s sustainability goals in focus.

As elected representative, the student has a responsibility to organize events, focused on intercultural exchange and knowledge sharing amongst the partner universities’ countries. In this role it might entail traveling to the partner universities.(*)

The Council (FUM) is the highest student council, entailing discussion and decisions regarding students’ life and wellbeing, education monitoring, accommodation issues etc. It consists of 29 members selected from the 4 faculties of Malmö University.

As an elected FUM member, the student is required to attend and actively participate in the meeting, taking place once a month. Active participation includes discussing issues brought up to the meeting, voicing opinions affecting students’ life.(*)

Associations are groups of students self-organizing based on common interests, ideals and goals.
They are often a very good platform to learn about a field while socializing with like-minded people from different international backgrounds, while making friends for life.

When joining an association, the student has to be actively engaged in the association’s events and participating in organizing an activity that drives global/international connotation.(*)

Within the Student Union Malmö there are various committees that are the main drivers for study of social and political activities and events, working strategically with some major questions and areas of responsibility, later approved by the whole council’s board (FUM). As the Student Union has achieved the digitalization and internationalization goals, these two committees have been dissolved and incorporated in all the other committees. (*)

During the operational year, the Student Union might take on a project (i.e. short term event/activity) open for student applicants.
The project has to be beneficial to a wider group of students and in specific it should have international relevance.

Internationalization council

The Internationalization Council works to, on behalf of the dean, to strategize and develop the faculty’s internationalization work, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The work includes increasing the number of outgoing and incoming students and teachers as well as developing other forms of international exchange.(*)

SectionBoard Members
Sections are groups of students belonging to the same education within their faculty. The members of the section participate in improving students’ education, arranging social activities, as well as promoting students’ study and career opportunities.

As an elected section member, the student is required to attend and actively participate in the meetings and activities. (*)

Volunteering in the early arrival days at least 3 days (only native students can apply to this one)

These events give the engaged student the possibility to meet students with international background. It is an occasion to make new friends and create connections.
